Gregory Bryant, general manager, Digital Office Platform Division, Digital Enterprise Group, Intel Corporation

Gregory Bryant is the general manager of the Digital Office Platform Division in Intel’s Digital Enterprise Group and leads Intel’s Digital Office platform business, including strategic planning, advanced development, solution enabling, platform marketing and branding and demand creation. Intel’s Digital Office initiative aims to enable exciting new usage models, innovation and platforms in the business client PC market worldwide. Bryant previously served as the director of office computing in Intel’s Information Technology group and was a key driver of Intel’s 80% mobile computing initiative, remote management initiative, PC acquisitions and global platform deployment strategies.

Richard W. Cheston, executive director, distinguished engineer & master inventor, Lenovo

As a member of the Services, Software and Peripherals Business Unit within Lenovo, Richard W. Cheston develops, markets and drives P&L ownership of all software. He developed the highly differentiated ThinkVantage Technologies that have helped over 50% of Lenovo’s customers annually reduce the cost and complexity of managing client computers. Rich and his team have helped nearly 1,000 customers a year dramatically improve operational efficiency through the implementation of ThinkVantage Technologies. He is a recipient of the Crystal Coke Award for outstanding contribution to the Coca-Cola Companies and was recognized within IBM as a Distinguished Engineer among other acheivements.

John R. Cooper, CEO, Avocent

John R. Cooper is chairman of the board and CEO of Avocent Corporation. Prior to joining Avocent in March 2002, Cooper was senior vice president, finance and CFO for ADTRAN, Inc. from 1996 through 2001. Cooper’s background includes more than 20 years in public accounting, including serving as managing partner of the Coopers & Lybrand offices in Knoxville, Tennessee and Birmingham, Alabama. He has also served as CEO of Kern’s Bakeries, Inc. in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Thomas Davis, vice president of Engineering, LANDesk

Thomas Davis oversees the development of all LANDesk® product lines and international engineering teams. For 11 years at Intel Corporation, Davis served as engineering director and CTO of the Software Products and Services Division, managing a staff of more than 100 engineers and product managers. He was instrumental in driving Intel's definition of the systems management space. He also served as engineering director for Intel’s Internet Management and Appliances Division. Davis has also held engineering management positions within Intel’s sustaining engineering and testing/validation organizations. This early immersion in QA strongly influenced Davis’ strategic vision and forms the basis of his emphasis on “designed-in-quality.”

David McCoy, vice president and research fellow, Gartner

David McCoy runs the Gartner academic roundtable, a research group that blends academic and practitioner perspectives. His primary research topics include agility and advanced software infrastructure, including service-oriented development of applications (SODA); emerging trends and technologies, including advanced technology planning and research on semantic representation of content; business process management skills and training requirements; and business rules. He has served as the editor in chief of Gartner Spotlight on Application Integration, has led the Gartner application integration research team and driven Gartner’s business process management (BPM) and business activity monitoring (BAM) research. During 2004 and 2005, McCoy also led the team building Gartner's research operating and governance models. He is the author of the monthly column, “Renaissance Man,” published in Business Integration Journal, and is a columnist with BPM.com.

Kevin Mitnick, the world's most famous hacker

With more than 20 years of experience in exploring computer security, Kevin Mitnick is a self-taught expert at exposing the vulnerabilities of complex operating systems and telecommunications devices using both technical and non-technical means. To gain this knowledge, Kevin, as a hacker, gained unauthorized access to computer systems at some of the largest corporations on the planet and penetrated some of the most resilient computer systems ever developed. As retribution, Kevin served five years in a U.S. federal correctional facility before being release in January 2000. He has been the subject of countless news and magazine articles published worldwide. He has made guest appearances on numerous television and radio programs, offering expert commentary on issues related to information security.

John Dix, Editor Network World

John Dix is Editor in Chief of Network World where he is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the news weekly. A 26 year industry veteran, Dix started his career at International Data Corp. in 1980 where he was an editor of executive newsletters covering developments in networking and distributed processing. He joined Computerworld in 1984 as the news weekly's senior communications editor, then in 1986 was part of the team that launched Network World. Dix has served on the boards of many industry trade shows, including Interop, Comnet, Comdex, PC Expo and SatCon.

Bill Smith, vice president of North America sales, LANDesk

As Vice President of North America Sales for LANDesk, Bill Smith works to ensure that all revenue, profitability, productivity, employee and customer satisfaction goals of the North American team are met. He has more than 20 years of sales, sales management, and executive management experience, including 10 years as regional vice president of Novell’s northern and western regions and vice president of major market sales where he managed virtually every aspect of sales operations. Smith is considered an expert on selling methodologies and is a strong proponent of Question-Based Selling, which he teaches to salespeople and organizations all over the world. His innovative approach has helped many sales professionals quickly improve sales results and reach and surpass their sales goals.

David Sward, senior IT researcher, Intel Corporation

As a senior IT researcher at Intel Corporation, David Sward drives the development and adoption of human-centered approaches to the design of new business solutions. David has established and managed cross-disciplinary groups that apply human-centered principles to the design and development of products and services and helped develop and manage the IT Business Value Program within Intel's IT organization. David has worked in the field of human factors engineering since 1991 and is an adjunct faculty member in the Applied Psychology program at Arizona State University Polytechnic where he teaches classes in human factors engineering and human-computer interaction. He is the author of Measuring the Business Value of Information Technology: Practical Strategies for IT and Business Manager.

Dave Taylor, vice president of worldwide marketing, LANDesk

As vice president of worldwide marketing, Dave R. Taylor leads LANDesk’s global marketing efforts, including product management, demand generation, partner marketing, events and public and industry analyst relations. During its first two years of operation, Taylor drove the revitalization of LANDesk’s channel business and strategic relationships. In addition, he is a 13 year veteran of Intel, managing product marketing, sales and geographic expansion. Taylor spent five years in Europe, three years overseeing the launch of LANDesk® products in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and two years as general manager of Intel’s LANDesk European division, driving 40% annual sales growth and driving LANDesk’s European sales to approximately 40% of worldwide sales.

Joe Wang, CEO and president, LANDesk

As the leader of LANDesk’s management team and employees, Joe Wang sets the vision for the entire company. Wang is a driven, results-oriented executive with a distinguished track record in the technology industry—a record that earned him an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 Award. His nearly two decades of software expertise include executive-level positions in every phase of corporate structure, including general management, product management and engineering management.
